We have expertise in and advise on intellectual property protection in Ghana. In particular, we advise on the procedure for obtaining licences to use Ghanaian folklore. We also file searches to ascertain the availability of trademarks, and file applications for the registration of trademarks, copyright, patents, and other intellectual property rights. We routinely answer questions on trademark definition, the classification followed in Ghana, term of registration and renewal, remedies available in case of infringement and passing off and schedule of charges for the registration of trademark and patents.

Our intellectual property team has recently been involved in the review of all intellectual property laws in Ghana with the aim of developing an anti-counterfeiting legislation to fight counterfeiting and piracy.
