Ellis was was admitted to the Ghana Bar in October 2010. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Ghana where he was president of the University’s chapter of Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE), an international Students organisation that operates on over 1000 University campuses around the world.

He was also a member of the team that launched the University of Ghana Students Law Journal, becoming its first Editor in 2008. Ellis is also an award-winning copywriter, having won several awards including Gold and Platinum Gong Gongs for his creative work at Origin8 Saatchi and Saatchi.
